Tap the port to 1/8 NPT and use a 1/8 pipe plug with sealant.
Also- the level plug in the Ex cover is in the wrong place for our application. The IRS Ex doesn't run the diff level as high as our axles do because its fluid doesn't lube the wheel bearings. Be sure to use the hole in the Ranger diff housing to set the fluid level or your wheel bearings will fail.

That hole in the Explorer cover is for the breather tube, as the Explorer doesn't have one on the axle tube....................so you can either plug it like I did with a self-tappin bolt or find ya a piece of tubin & press it in & run a second breather..............
