A4LD issues
Hey all,
need some insight about my 1993 Ranger 2.3 a4ld 2wd and was wondering if anyone could help me out,
I was taking off from a light in overdrive when at about 25mph the truck seemed to leave the gear it was in and free rev/ go into a neutral gear, I pulled off into a neighborhood and tried all the gears and to no avail. All i heard was whining from the transmission with the revs of the engine BUT there was little movement when its revved up high for short intervals, anyway i figured out if i go from park to drive or 2/1 or park to reverse and it'll engage into gear and can actually be driven but when its above 30-35 you can lift your foot off the gas and shift to overdrive and hear it shift down completely normal. what could this be exactly? i dont want to pay a shop an arm an a leg to check it out but i know these transmissions were known for lots of bad so i just wanted to post. Might also be good to note the transmission is about a half inch overfilled on the dipstick and I have yet to siphon it out or do a fluid and filter change on the trans. Thank you all.
