Still cannot find mileage to 1st oil change 2019
Cannot find in the manual any mention of time/mileage to first oil change. IIRC it was 500 miles on the old S10, no mention of it for the 2019 Ranger.
In fact, in general the manual leaves it up to the oil change message on the dash..... with exceptions.
Is there any special interval for 1st change? I will shortly have 500 on it, and then another 1200 before long, in a couple trips.

Ford uses Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor (IOLM) System
So "it" will tell you when to change the oil
Its not just based on mileage or time, it uses driving conditions, i.e. higher loads hauling stuff and/or engine/trans temps overall
This applies to 1st oil change, "it" knows engine/vehicle is new, so that is factored in
You can change the oil any time you want.
Filter is in an odd place, instructions here: "There is a small rubber flap in the wheel well that's held in place with 9 fasteners. Use a screw driver to remove three of the fasteners. Peel back flap. Remove oil filter."

That's what it looked like they intended, bur I figured I'd ask. Thanks. They do give a 500 mile "window" that they do not complain about, so one does not have to stop and do the change right away. Of course there ARE instructions "in case no message is displayed" before a specified interval, so even Ford concedes that their smart oil change system may not actually work.
"Pdd place".... yeah, that qualifies. I wonder how many folks who go to Jiffy lube, or the like, will have those three (or any of the screws, or even the rubber flap) still in place after a couple oil changes.
