Why are some different than others? Is it just the model year? Besides that I just hate the ranger fuel guage because one second it can be half tank next almost empty depending on the road and turning.

i hate mine aswell...it jumps up and down,and i can never tell how much gas i really have..i wonder if a external gauge will be any better

Mine stays. Only time it moves is when I fill the tank and then it goes down to E faster than I want it to.
