Temp Gauge Wont Move

i tried searching but coundt find my same problem.

tonight i went off roading, and i hit some mud holes since it had just rained the past few days.

after i finished i stopped at a gas station and when i turned the truck off the temp gauge didnt drop down with no reading like all the other gauges do. i thought maybe it just messed up once but when i got home it was still holding midway when the truck was off.

if anyone can help that would be great.

thanks

no it's supposed to stay up. All the ranger/explorers i've seen do that, they reset to the current temp once the truck is started again

My 2001 stays at its last reading until I re-start. If it hasn’t cooled down any it won’t drop. Check it in the morning by turning the key to on and watch the temp gauge. It should drop then.
