** HID look with out the price** ( ideal)
today i was helping a friend of mine re-gel some theather lights. . i stated to look at them and they put out some serious heat and watts?..but they mite last only 100 hours or more idk.
soo,
why couldnt u do that to headlight?
it mite be hard b/c you have to take the headlight compleatly apart but u can get any color u want out of ur head light.. ( maybe like deep blue)and i know they sell high watt headlight bulbs too.
and i got to get the yellow tint out of the headlamps too.. but i think i know how to fix that.. but ideal wiil be takin for sure!
.
. what do ya think

are those bulbs 9007? if not, how do you plan on wiring them up? if they only last 100 hours, how much do they cost? an average HID bulb lasts 3000+ hours, so that bulb, if it worked, would have to be 300 times LESS expensive for it to even equal out dollar wise. then you say it puts out some serious heat and watts....that serious heat may just melt your headlight housings, which would then add to the side that they are not a good idea. if they pull too many watts they can melt your wiring harness for the headlights, again adding to the not worth it side. also, do you mean "theater lights"? as in a movie theater? if its a bulb that isnt meant for a car, it is meant to run off of AC power and not DC. just more food for thought.

to mod this gel for a headlight. i will have to take the head light apart compleatly ( around the seal).. and somehow make it work there.
if i cant do that to head light s. i can try on 100w fog lights.
did i clear this up right for ya?

i wouldnt change the blub or any wireing for the ranger head lights... just adding a color peice of plastic to it to change the color... thats what the gel is ment to do for a theather light.
and the theather lights put out major heat ... just like a car head light dose.. but probbaly not as much..hopefull this help out and made thing clear as mud..lol

As a side note to this thread... I recently bought two pair of 9007 HID bulbs for my Ranger off eBay. Although the boxes state "off-road use only", they are widely used on-road, as we all know.
My visibility has greatly improved. After following my daughter for several miles, I asked her if they bothered her by their brightness. She said they didn't.
This link is for the seller I used. The final cost is half what you would pay at WallyWorld.

First of all dude, you have got to give it a break with the *** ~~~ on all your subject lines. It is not necessary, doesn't gain you any more attention, it is annoying to read. Just a suggestion.
As for the theatrical lighting gels, you have to use a very very very very very very light blue gel for this. It would have to be almost clear with a very slight tinge of blue. A very light CTB gel would probably be perfect.
For the gel to be effective, you would have to break open your headlight and glue it to the inside of the lens. I'm not sure how this would look from the outside but probably not good. You can't have it in direct contact with the bulb. So, in conclusion, this would work but it is highly impractical.

the idea will work, like fireranger says, but its highly impractical. there are tons of bulb manufacturers doing what youre suggesting... take silverstar bulbs for example. theyre tinted slightly blue to simulate an HID look. The blue tint reduces the yellowish look from the halogen and adds a tinge of blue.
