Knock/thud noise under front end?

I have this Knock/ Thud noise undernethe my front end. Everytime I hit a decent bump/rut it does it. When Im driving there is no sound what so ever just on bumps. Now last time this happened, the noise was alittle different and it was my whole brake assembly that was loose under the Pass front. Those two bolts that hold it down were not tight. This noise is more noticable. Any Ideas? Any checks I can do?

Run a rope through the windows and tie each leg of your friend so his head in below the bumper and drive over some bumps and have him watch for what is loose. That's what Click and Clack do .

Sometimes knocks like that are hard to find.

I would just look for any missing or loss bolts...maybe have a friend in the passenger seat and listen from both sides and see if it comes more from one side then the other. Mine has allways made a sound like that but its never changed so I havn't done anything yet about it.

Wheel bearing should be fine. Just ;ut them in and greesed them up not even 6 months ago. As for my lug nuts. I'll double check but im sure they are fine.

Keep feeding me ideas and checks. I'm stumped

haha, should be.

check the brake rotor dust shields before you get to involved, they can get bent and cause noises.

Jack up the suspect wheel and while grabbing the cv shaft with one hand turn the tire forward and back with the other. If there is play between the two , you need a new cv.

^^^^^that, OR if there's grease everywhere and a hole in the boot, that's a good indication too

Don't rule out the bearings just yet. Jack up the truck and see if either wheel feels loose. Mine did the exact same thing about 6 months after I did my bearings. Come to find out I didn't tighten it down properly (which is odd because it seemed pretty good at the time. Then again, I may just be a moron).

You have U-joints and you would know if they were bad. Grab the top of the wheel and pull/push, see if that gives you any sounds. Try doing this with the side in question jacked up, turn the wheels then try it.
