Its not a traction issue even though there is a difference. It seems like the engine puts out more power.
My fuel milage has also took a dive from 12.5-12.7 down to only 12.0mpg and this is after driving like an old lady since last fillup and installing manual hubs.

May be a condensation problem.Try a couple cans of drygas through it and see if it helps.
As the level of gas drops in the tank it's pulling damp air in during the day, and at night when the temperature goes down , the moisture collects on the sides of the tank. Then runs down and collects in the bottom.
When you fill up the water gets stirred up and diluted somewhat with the gas for a while.

The weight makes a little bit of a difference I am sure but I would think that it is just as simple as the fuel pump has more fuel a lot more readily available so its not working as hard and its putting enough gas to the engine rather than just skimmin the bottom and as said before getting all the gunk.
