Just curious...

What would happen if I unscrewed my intake and let it idle with no intake, just straight to the throttle?

and you could inject some foreign objects into the engine......that is why the "filter" is there.....to "filter" out things that shouldn't go into the engine....

I was just curious because I've read about various mods to remove obstructions to the airway to the engine (ex: parts of the MAF), and I was wondering if anyone ran with just an open throttle, wasn't really thinking about doing it

You would lose the function of The MAF.

Past that, from everything I have studied, you would lose low rpm hp and gain a little at high rpms.

There was a guy trying to get a speed record at the salt flats in a 4cyl. He had it in a Y configuration and could change the flow from the intake to a very short runner while driving.
