Clutch pedal position switch

Clutch pedal position switch
So my cruise hasn't worked in a while. Performed the self diagnostics and got "two blinks" indicating bpp or cpp issue. Bpp looks fine but cpp is loose on the rod. The cpp unit slides around and can easily slide up/down the rod.
After moving it aroun some my cruise light came on for few seconds for first time. Then nothing.
My problem is that I don't know if the cpp is supposed to be attached at base of Rod or not? It looks like it should be attached somehow??
And suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

It isn't attached in that manner so will slide, the angle of the push rod usually makes it stay on the master cylinder, when you push the pedal in, just before it gets to the bottom of travel the switch will be activated.
It is clipped on to the push rod so can be removed, and tested.
The clutch switch is used by several system, usually there are 6 wires, 3 in 3 out, but can be 2 in 3 out or ....ect

I assume the engine starts so at least some of the contacts in the switch are working.
