I'm thinking of making my own center console since my current one is cracked and looks nasty. I was looking online and center consoles are like $75-$100!
I was looking around the console and seats and I can't figure out how it detaches from the brackets or if the brackets are supposed to detach from the seat. I really don't know. Any tips would be good thanks

 

Which console do you have?

 

It's just a small vinyl box that doesn't open. It sits on top of the middle seat. It's from an 08 single cab

 

Okay, where the console pivots, there should be two plastic covers over each pivot. Pull up on those covers and they should slide off. Then you should see the torx bits or whatever else is used to hold the actual console to the pivot brackets. Remove those and the console should come off. If you want to remove the pivot brackets, you'll have to take the whole seat out since they bolt on from the bottom.

 

Ok I don't need the brackets out just the vinyl box basically. I watched a video where this guy made a custom center console so if I don't have to work overtime this weekend pics will be up Sunday or Monday!
