Modifying the grill

I want to color match my grill when I repaint my rear bumper, and wanted to change the look of it. I looked around and found the grill i've been seeing on other rangers but the price was a little shocking at least $200 for the grill shell and bullit grill...........I dont have that much to spend, nor do I want to, so I was thinking about cutting all that stuff out inside of the outer part of the grill:

To make it look like this:

If I did that, what would I use to patch the areas where it was cut out? I was thinking maybe fiberglass or use some of the plastic I cut off and epoxy it to the back side or something and fill the rest with filler (bondo). What do ya'll think?

I would but it costs a good bit of $$$, because of all the parts needed.

I looked, and all i've seen is the billet grill. I'd rather not spend any money to get a new grill.

Sounds like a good Idea to me. Would you put the Ford emblem back on the grill somewhere?

what if you just got some clear corners and painted the grey that is behind the chrome. i saw that done on a red truck and it looks sweet. and then do some color matched mirors while your painting. truck looks great by the way.
