sounds like it may be steam powered? you must be a time traveler cause I have no idea how you are on the forum with such goldrush tech

Got a little more done the other day. Got the motor out and planning on cleaning up the firewall and plating of things I don't need anymore. The f250 is finally asking for some attention and money so I've been kinda dealing with that.
some random pics of the pull
been having problems with my 250 trans...found out why I was 4 quarts low and where it went. the T-case!...awesome. rear seal is gone and pretty sure it took out the torque converter...trans might be ok though.

yeah I have to get a non a/c blower motor and panel swapped in. little lower profile, plus mine is toasted anyways. I would probably regret no heat as soon as I wanted to play on a frozen lake in the winter...or just the dunes in june lol.
The torque converter seems like its burned out, only because I'd been taking it easy stick driving it for a couple weeks now after it having just a slight slip starting out in drive. manually putting it in 1st it goes right in though. and the rest of the gears have no slip. But when I noticed it was low and I filled it up to the cold fill line(all the fluid I had on hand) after running through the gears it didn't seem to change how it acted. I'd just hate to tear it all down just to replace the rear seal and filter. fill it with all that fluid just to have it still slip on me. A HD Torque converter isn't too much so I should do that for sure if I have it down, but trans I was thinking maybe a rebuild since its out too. got a show in town that will do a 4r100 rebuild for 750, and free shift kit if you want. maybe a little more if I ask for beefier parts in it.

I would be doing the same thing, no point taking that chance for all that work, cost of fluid, and having it screw off on you all over again. so that was the trouble you were having with it in the sand?
thats a beauty of a space you have got to work with, im trying to track down somwhere local where i can do the same thing till the prerunner invasion. Started a decent sized list that needs to get taken care of.
whats the motor plans, just a refreshed bottom end? i kinda liked the clacking lol.

haha no the trans problem is in the f250..little off topic info.
Motor plans range from fresh bored over rebuild,to that plus charger/turbo, to lsx swap :)
I'm kind of at the stage where I'm going to be really putting a lot into it because I've been waiting to tear it down like this for a while. so I may not be able to make a few trips early summer. but it'll be bitchen by the end of summer I hope!

Got the motor torn down to the short block. I really haven't found yet where any of the noise was coming from. pistons and heads actually look really good, crosshatched still and not much carbon. have not checked out the cam yet. but the rods seem tight. so idk. what the huge knock was yet. Also I noticed the rods/caps have numbers stamped in them like they were rebuilt. that's not done stock is it?
And I have all the diagrams to start hacking into my wiring harnesses and get rid of all the crap I don't need. Just needs to get a little warmer out so I can be in the garage and feel better about working on a wiring harness :)
build for the motor is really up in the air. ranges from standard rebuild with aftermarket here and there. to 347 with aluminum heads, new intake, bigger TB, big MAF, injectors etc. I do really want to get this thing in the 400hp range
now that it's all apart..sand is in the thing top to bottom lol
And the possible save pile. the Accessory drives for sure, but intakes are up in the air.

What I'm thinking so far:
-stock block,machined,stock crank,rods,pistons (maybe .030 over,306)
-AFR 165cc Heads
-Anderson N-41 or N-21 Cam
-Stock GT40 intakes
-75mm MAF
-30lb injectors
-billet fuel rails
-1.6 or 1.7 rockers depending on the cam
should all work together quite well and make 350-400hp, giving room for ecu tuning etc.

Yeah for what I'm doing for now the 41 will work great. If I was going 347 or a stroked 351 I would go bigger.
