leaf spring hanger

gaah the front driver's side hanger busted... just 5 minutes after i got a new inspection sticker for the truck lol

anybody know what a good price is to get it fixed at an indy shop?

it's really close to the gas tank so the guys here said they may have to drop the tank to get the new bolts in.... maybe upto 5 hours labor in all

Grind the rivets off.
The reason to drop the tank is there is no room to get your hand in there.
Pull the bed off to make it easier.
While the bed is off , run a new steel brake line to the rears. It'll be due soon 'cause of the rust from road salt.

I just replaced the rear hangar on my '97. Used a handdrill to drill 7/16 dia X abt 1/4 dp. The head will fall off. My biggest problem was removing the screw thru the bushing in the spring eye. Using the drill again, it came out in small pieces. Good Luck!!!

ha actually i would try it myself if i had the right tools and didn't have to do it
outside with no lift...... it's freakin freezing out already.
moving the gas tank does not look easy .. the straps are rusted to crap...
along with everything else underneath.

anyway i guess it's less $$ than getting another truck...
plus it just got a new inspection sticker lol! which is worth a lot here....

end of story.. $175 for labor and it's done.. parts came from the ford dealer
which i would have had to get anyway.
believe money well spent. the guy did say he had to move the tank a bit to get the new bolts in.
i don't mind supporting a local guy for this kind of job as long as they charge a reasonable rate.
