06 2.3L Compatible Swaps

Hi newbie here, my grandpa recently gave me an 06' Ranger and she's got 291k miles with the original engine. I want to swap it but I'm new to all this. What other 2.3's or other engines would be compatible, looking for mostly plug and play with little to no cutting and welding. If this is a stupid question you can refer to my username and I will delete this post. Also if this post is in the wrong place I will delete and again username

Welcome to the forum

2004 thru 2011 2.3l Ranger or Mazda B2300 use the same engine, plug and play

And thats all that will work
If you want to change engine size you will need the new engine and its transmission and the computer and wiring for the new engine, and of course exhaust, and motor mounts

I have another question it may be dumb but I'm new and looking to learn.

Would a 2.3 mustang ecoboost fit? I understand that would require more work I'm just wondering how much and if it would be worth it?

Here is an article on that swap: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...a-ford-ranger/

Google: ford ranger ecoboost swap
There are some videos

Quite a bit of fabrication is needed

Its the same block so same transmission can be used, if manual, not sure automatic can be used since you need a different computer

2006 might have a few more changes needed with the cluster/computer pairing
