2.5l with a knock and horrible idle
Motor was running perfect and all of a sudden it started having a knock/tick randomly. Truck only has 103k miles, sounds like it’s coming from top of engine but not real sure. It only knocks at about 1500-2000 rpm+ And now idles horrible

Reads like a rocker has failed
Rockers transfer Cam lobe differences to open and close valves, so failure would cause rough running
I would remove valve cover and have a look, should be fairly obvious if a rocker has come off or broken

No, doesn't show up, but wouldn't matter really
"Knock/tick" from maybe the top end would be reason enough to pull the valve cover and have a look
It's a mechanical issue(noise) so requires visual inspection
