tachometer

i was just wondering....my truck does not have a tachometer because its the older models and I wanted to know if I were to buy one is there a way I can hook it up?

alot of the older trucks mine included didnt come with a tack my 1993 4cyl and my 1993 4.0L splash didnt have one.. it was an optional thing

Yes, you can install an aftermarket tach in your truck. I have a 94 2.3L that I put a tach in. I will take a look at the wiring harness, to see where the tach pick up is, if you would like.

The tan/yellow wire carries the RPM signal. You can find it at the PCM, at the Ignition Control Module, at the back of the cluster or under the hood at the tachometer service connector (may be labeled CTO).

Have fun finding the wire it is very small. make sure that if you splice the wire with the little red splicers that come with the kit make sure it goes all the way through.

anyone have a pic of the wire etc... yall mean that huge cluster of wires at the firewall?

Yes, it passes through there on the way to the cluster. See my post above for other locations.

well I found a cluster out of a 93 with tach and I'm buying it...should it plug in or do I have to wire it all?

It is probably plug and play since the harness to the cluster is already wired for it.

hey finaly figured it out guys, it was a tan with yellow stripe wire right under the dis module. thanks for the help.
