Not to hijack your thread or anything but using that same yellow/black wire could a aftermarket tach be wired in? I think there is a red, black and green on a aftermarket tach.. SO the green wire would be the one that would go to the yellow/black wire?? I'm interested in this as well as i was told i can't run a tach with coil packs..

Edit: 93 ranger as well

You can definitely run an A/M tach with a coil pack. This should help:

Yes that will work and is how mine is set up...it took me a while to figure this one out a while back and had to look and follow a crapload of wires on the schematic. Glad you got it working.

I have a '94 that I am doing the same upgrade to. Where did you splice that black/yellow wire to? Directly to the new instrument cluster? Thanks!

The black/yellow is the only for the tachomter wire from the cluster yes it will work.

i have the same problem with mine and i dont see the black and yellow wire but there is a blue and yellow wire? and where did you find the black and yellow wire at is in going into the dis. module or what?
