Where is my oil going???
So I have an 07 ford ranger. Bare bones no options. It has the 2.3l with about 124,000 miles on it. It's been well maintained and is driven easy. I noticed about 2 months ago the oil light was coming on occasionally. I checked it and it was LOW. So I checked it again yesterday and it was LOW again! I put an entire quart and it's still not where its recommended to be. WTF? It doesnt smoke or leak anywhere so wheres it going so fast? I know engines burn some oil but not that much right?
Run your finger around the inside of the tail pipe and see if its oily, blackish residue
Check spark plug holes, the 2.3l Duratec valve cover gasket likes to leak oil in to those holes, fills them up
The oil LEVEL light is coming on right?
Not the oil pressure light

That's the oil pressure light, so not good for it to come on when engine is running
There are only 3 ways oil can get out of an engine, burn it, leak it, or open the drain plug and drain it
