2019 Ranger XLT 2WD Fan Clutch
Hello All,
I have an issue with my ranger and I am trying to see if anyone can help me diagnose it. As of right now every time I take off with my truck even after a proper warm up I have a loud engine roar with even the slightest acceleration. It continues to roar when accelerating and I have come to believe I have a bad fan clutch. When spinning the fan manually the fan may spin maybe a 1/2 inch so it is pretty stiff and does not rotate. However when I turn on the truck and look at the fan it seems to be spinning at full speed. Due to this it has made me second guess whether the fan clutch is the issue. Would the fan still be spinning even though it is stiff when off? I have come to assume it is still a bad fan clutch and was wondering if anyone can confirm this? Thank you in advance to anyone who can help!

When engine is cold, after sitting over night, spin the fan, its Cold Locked now so shouldn't spin easily, this is why at cold start you should hear the fan roar and then quiet down
After engine has been running 30 seconds or so shut it off
Spin the fan, should spin easily, its unlocked now
If not then fan clutch is bad, which would be unusual in 4 year old vehicle, and they are stupid expensive to replace
