'03 Ranger Edge - Is this a clutch issue? Stutter when accelerating
Hey all - I've got a 03 Ranger (edge) 3L V6 manual trans with two issues but I'm here to ask about one of them (as I don't think they're related, but could be).
I'm getting a bad stutter when I'm accelerating from a dead stop. As I'm easing off the clutch and pushing on the gas it's not smooth at all. It's a newer problem, it happens in reverse, and isn't as bad when I come off the clutch quick. I feel ridiculous asking this, but I'm wondering if this is a clutch issue or something else. I'm including a link to the thread where the other issue is discussed, too.
Any help would be appreciated!

Common issue when clutch disc is cold, in any manual trans vehicle
Shouldn't happen once clutch has been used a few times, if it happens with warm clutch then could be another issue
If clutch was changed and flywheel wasn't surfaced or replaced, that can cause it, warped surface
You could re-lube the slip joint on drive shaft, but its more of a "clunk" noise
U-joints would be a stretch for this desription

The first time it happened was after driving on the hwy for an hour and when I got to my first stop light I had an issue going again. Clutch hasn't felt like an issue otherwise so I've been assuming it's something else but when I was driving it around today after cleaning the MAF I thought I'd at least ask the group about the clutch.
I've checked air filter, clean MAF sensor, new IAC valve, cleaned throttle body (never seemed dirty to begin with)...I'm running out of things I can do on my own, and don't have a mechanic in this city yet, so i'm worried that I won't have the money to chase these two problems. So, I'm trying to narrow it down (or magically fix it). Thanks Ron!
