Getting ready to reinstall the engine on the truck and also have the transmission out of the vechicle as well. Is it possible to instatall the transmission to engine and mount both units onto the truck with the hood removed? Wanted to avoid having to be underneath the truck and having to wiggle the transmission into the engine. I do have an appropriate cherry picker for the job. All suggestions are welcomed and looking forward to what you all have to say about this.

Yes, you can do it that way, vehicle needs to be jacked up
But you will need someone under vehicle moving tailshaft up as you lower engine down, can be a pain alone
Put a piece of plywood over windshield, I cracked a windshield once when doing engine/trans install, quite a lot of weight hanging there, oops, lol

Thats how i prefer, installing engine/transmission together on these rangers. Key is to have the transmission part tilted down when first sliding her in. Also start with installing it slightly to the left or right at an angle. Have a jack underneath to support the transmission tailshaft and hopefully you can roll it back as she goes into place. For Rangers with 4x4/Edge/lifted, its better to pull front wheels off and lower the front end down a little, but not too much. Better attack angle. Wrap the end of the tailshaft with lots of rags so it doesnt scratch and ding everything on its way in. Having a engine lift leveler would make things a lot easier, but ive installed them without. This is a 2 person job.
