All gasoline engines need to be Choked when cold, fuel injection doesn't change that, but a Choke Plate can't be used, no Jets to suck extra fuel from

So all fuel injected engines have a ECT(engine coolant temp) sensor that the computer uses to set "choke mode" when engine is cold, the colder it is the more choke is needed
For an engine "choke" means Richer Fuel mix and higher idle
So on Cold Start the idle should be 900-1,200, colder the temp the higher the idle

If the ECT sensor is telling the computer engine is at 140degF when its at 50degF then no choke, so engine can not stay running unless you keep it running
And no code because computer just thinks you are restarting a warm engine
And it restarts and idle fine once it is warmed up because no choke is needed

So if cold start has low idle and struggles to run, try replacing the ECT sensor

Should be at the top front of the engine, but there are TWO temp units there
ECT sensor is 5volts and always 2 wires

There will be a Temp SENDER which is 12volts and usually 1 wire, a red/white wire, it runs to the dash board Temp Gauge
These look the same but are NOT interchangeable

Usually the ECT sensor is closest to the thermostat housing...........usually
Coolant will come out when you unscrew it, so drain a bit out first
