ACT-1993 3.0L

I am trying to figure out a temp sensor in the driver side intake manifold. Ive searched and it is apparently an Air Temp Sensor, however, there is not an electrical connection from it to anything else in the engine compartment. I know there is a sensor on the bottom of the intake box and it is connected. Does anyone know about this sensor in the manifold, what it should connect to and if leaving it the way it is will cause any issues?

Welcome to the forum

Maybe the 3.0l in there now is not the original engine?
or original intake

Ford put IAT(intake air temp) sensor on air filter box OR upper intake, depending on the year and engine.
In 1996 IAT was part of new 6 wire MAF sensors

If IAT was not connected you should get a CEL(check engine light) and a code for IAT problem

Yeah the previous owner said the engine was rebuilt so I guess I'll be doing some serial number digging. Thanks for the idea. I am new to trucks, especially Fords.

Have a look here: Ford Ranger II 3.0 liter Engines

There are changes over the years on the 3.0l Vulcan engine, made from 1986 to 2008

Some are visible from the outside.

If you go to an auto parts store and ask for 1993 Ranger 3.0l IAT sensor you may see which one it matches, but they could be the same, can't remember what air box IAT looked like
