Clicking Noise

Clicking Noise

hi guys i have a 1999 ford ranger 3.0 it used to have the check engine light on but it just went away by itself is that ok, also when i start the engine it makes like a clicking noise under the hood but after a little bit it goes away...what might it be thanks in advance

Just because the CEL went out doen't mean there are no codes stored . Get the codes pulled and post them here.
The valve train on the 3.0 is noisey if you run too heavy weight oil.
The 3.0 likes about a 5w-20 weight.

If it's anything like the 4.0, that's probably just your AC clutch and it's normal for it to do that. Open your hood and look at the AC pump and listen for your noise. Looking at the engine from the front, mine is on the lower right side, here is a pic of it.
