Fuel Pressure and no star question.
Fuel Pressure and no star question.
Hi all!
First time poster here on the forum and had a question for y'all.
I have a 93 3.0 v6 4x4 ranger.
A couple days ago, I couldn't start my truck, I didn't hear my fuel pump turn on, so I swapped the fuel pump relay and it started up fine. Started driving and it sputtered and died. I found that if I wiggled the fuse box it would bog and almost die.
I took the fuse box off its stand and checked it, made sure it was fine, and put it back on. I started it up, wiggled the box around and it seemed to stay running.
Fast forward 24 hours. Started the truck, it ran for a second, then died. Cranked and cranked and it didn't start.
I could hear the fuel pump turn on, checked the spark from the wires on a ground, got a spray of fuel from the FPR, and even sprayed starter fluid into the intake. Nothing.
I got a fuel pressure tester and it read 0. I even tested It on my tire to make sure it was reading right. So that made me wonder if the pump was going out.
I swapped the pump for a new one, and I still get a spray of gas, So I'm wondering if it's the FPR.
either the FPR or a weird connection at the fuse box somewhere.
Any ideas would be great!

Welcome to the forum
First watch the CEL(check engine light)
It should come on with key on, this means computer has booted up, no computer = no fuel injectors
Crank the engine, CEL should go OFF, this means computer is getting a good TIMING PULSE from the spark module(TFI) so computer will start fuel injectors
Spray fuel into the engine, 50/50 test
If it starts, runs and dies, spark is OK, but no fuel or no fuel injectors
If its doesn't start or fire then no spark, you need to deal with this first
50/50 no guessing and where to look first
If you have a problem in engine fuse box that will shut off computer or spark as well as fuel
1993 has a distributor, coil and TFI spark module, no 12volts and no start
