High idle on 3.0
High idle on 3.0
If this has already been gone over I apolgize, I just found out about this forum. But anyway, I have a 98 ranger with the 3.0 vV6, manual transmission. When you push in the clutch going down the road to stop, the engine will hold whatever rpm it was turning when the clutch was engaged, then, when you come to a complete stop, the rpms will drop to around 1k, which I could live with. But it is very annoying, the motor running away while you slow down, not to mention wasting gas. OK, took to mechanic, he did smoke test and said that the throttle body was leaking very bad, so I replaced the tb with a new one still not right, took off the battery cable for an hour, still same, replaced the idle control valve, nothing ,looked for a vaccum leak, nothing. One mechanic even told me that was normal, to help out people that are horrible driving a manual transmission get it into gear easier. I hope not! I can unplug the idle control valve and it will idle right but the check engine light comes on, and it is cold collared , which is annoying after a while. Any help would be gladly appreciated.Thanks.
Thanks, I will try that.
have you found this out?? I've had this problem for the past 2-3 years...but hasn't bugged me enough to do anything about it yet.
I just changed out my PCV valve last year and when I got it, I had the two hoses that go under the intake replaced as well.
