When I start the truck I dont hear noise but as it reaches operating temp it starts to make some light clunking noises. When I mated the eng and trans initially I didnt have the TC installed correctly. I fixed that but...It wont shift at all but I assume that is the pump, valve or solenoid. How can I know the TC is broke? Eng is 3.0 flex Trans is 5R44E

 

You can't break the torque converter by mis-installing it, or the solenoids, you can only break the pump, which is, unfortunately, a major thing to replace on an automatic
If pump is broken vehicle will not move, period, in either direction

 

thank you, I thought as much bit didnt want just start replacing stuff. One more question, does this pump have a pressure valve in it? Ive seen videos that show it but the diagram from ford doesnt show it there.

For sure not your problem, either can "delay" engagement, but can't prevent engagement
