Idle problem on cold start up
Idle problem on cold start up
After my truck has sat for awhile, and I start it up, it runs like ***. It won't idle over about 800rpm, and if I tap the gas pedel, it drops down to 500RPM, some times to 300RPM, and some times it just stalls out. Any idea what this can be. It is a 2002 3.0L FFV, has just over 40,000 miles on it, but everything has been well maintained. Not sure if this would be a fuel or spark problem.
the rpm go LOWER when you touch the gas?
Its most likely a fuel emmitions problem of some sort.
could be injectors or spark plugs.
I would try the spark plugs first, or take it to the dealer because it only a 02

Fuel filter and spark plugs are my thoughts, but I am not sure.
About the only thing I can find in common is, last Monday afternoon, the belt partiley broke, not all the way. I was able to shut it off quickly, and replaced it a couple hours later, and it wasn't run while it was broke. That night it started doing this crap.

Just curious.....can the IAC be cleaned?? Maybe blow some air in that hole thingy under there??
My 4.0L does pretty much the same thing. I have the airbox mod. Maybe that has something to do with it?
Thanks ya'll.

I ordered a new one today. It was special order, and will be in Tuesday, I will let you know how it does. I will try and clean mine out as well, and see what that does, although, it has a sticker that says something about not trying to clean it.
Well I feel like a dumb ***. New part came in today, put it on, still was doing it. I looked over everything, and I got to the MAS. Seems as though I fogot to plug the connector back in when I put the intake back in after changing the belt. Live and learn I guess.
