left me stranded in the woods

Ok guys I have a 2000 xlt with the flex fuel 3.0 and a auto trans. A few days ago I was cruzing about 40mph and my engine just died and my check engine light came on. I pulled over turned it off and it started right up. On my way home I hit auto zone to get them to read the trouble code and it seems like I have 2 and I was wondering what you guys think it could be. One was the crank position sensor or a malfunction in the fuel composition sensor. After i left auto zone I got 3 miles away from my house and it seemed to died for good. It will crank over fine but wont start up. Any help would be great on where to start.

Thanks
Tony

that would be the crank position sensor. it probebly needs to de replaced. My truck just through a code for the fuel composition also. It has to do with the flex fuel system, it determines if the truck is running on e85 or standatd 87octane. could go off if there is a short, bad gas or if the sensor is bad.

Ok so it turns out it was something with the flex fuel and may cost over a grand to fix. I was thinkning possible 4.0 OHV swap. What all am I goning to encounter during this? Can I still used my trans?
