Help, Stranded, ASAP, 4wd/abs light
Ok, on my way back from PA to FL, started hearing this light faint noise like music symbols ticking, thought it might be the tensioner pulley, NOT. About 45 mins of driving, my ABS light comes on, luckily right by a big exit off I-95. Pulled into the truck stop, and it seems like my hub or something with the 4wd is stuck in on the front, passenger side. It has the sensation like the 4wd is in when going forward. When I put it into reverse, it sounds very bad, like metal on metal sound.
So, I'm stuck here, going to pull the wheel off now and take a look. Is it possible to pull the whole axle out, just to get me home? Or is there a possibility it could be the hub?
Sorry for not searching, just in a jam now, and can't afford a tow home (320 miles left...)
HELP!!!

Hey first off I do not nor have I ever owned a TTB ford. BUT, if it is like a normal front end you should be able to pull the axle and run it from there.
OR
This is just a thought. Could you some how remove or disconnect the hub.
I know this is not much help but I hope it helps a little.
Good luck

First of all it's not a TTB front end if it's your '03.
Second you can't pull the axle without the bearing coming apart in about 200 feet. (Ask me how I know).
It sounds like your hub bearing is coming apart. See if you can get your spare tire jack out and raise the passenger front wheel and see if you can shake it up and down or left to right. That will help to diagnose your problem.

Your absolutely right 96GT, I jacked it up, and there was well over an inch of play in the wheel. Luckily I had all my tools with me, breaker bar, jack stands, etc. I had autozone rush order a timkin in from their distribution center. Luckily that's all that was bad. The funny thing is that my front end never made any kind of indication that my wheel bearing was going bad, until on the ride home.
I did take it to ford about 3 weeks ago, I noticed a slight thud every once in a while, thought it was my ball joint. They said everything in the front was good and tight, NOT!!!
I took my receipt and extended warranty back to ford yesterday and threw a fit. I think they're going to pay for the part.
So, the only thing i'm in the hole for is a night in a hotel room with the Mrs. and 2 dogs, not too bad!
