Loss of acceleration at 80mph
Loss of acceleration at 80mph
Hit 80 on the highway losses all acceleration don't know if it's because it's a 3.0 with an automatic transmission behind it or if it's just fuckerd if you have any information let me know
No, 3.0l with auto can do better than 80MPH
Try a new fuel filter and air cleaner
If fuel filter is older it won't allow enough fuel to pass for high demand/speed
An Engine is a self powered air pump, RPMs are limited to the amount of air that can come in
And that also means that air has to get OUT, so exhaust system blockage limits top speed, but harder to test that, need a vacuum gauge
Rangers do have a MPH limiter, but usually 95-100MPH
Year matters as well, what YEAR is this Ranger, 1991 thru 2008 Rangers had 3.0l Vulcan engine, so 17 years of slight differences

If truck is running great other wise, my first thought would be fuel filter. It just cant let fuel in fast enough to supply the motor. I have seen fuel filters clogged so bad I could not blow air thru them. Only the pressure of the fuel pump is strong enough to get any fuel thru it. I prefer to use Wix filters on my trucks.
I put a new wix fuel filter on it about a month ago its a wix 33233 and its has a k&n cold air filter that came on the truck I'll replace the air filter and spark plugs and see if that makes a difference
