Need help 2.9v6 won’t stay running

I recently acquired a 83 ford rang 4x4 with a bronco 2 v6 in it with 49k on it I just replaced the fuel lines, icm and coil. We got it running and perfectly timed and it will shut off after maybe 10-15 minutes and won’t start up until it cools down a bit

Reads like faulty TFI module(ICM) on distributor, common complaint was heat sensitivity
Coils can have the same heat issue, but less likely

Did you use the Grey color TFI unit?

Try 50/50 test after it shuts down and won't restart
50/50 test
Spray fuel into the engine manually, i.e. gasoline or Quick Start(ether)
Try to start engine
If it starts, runs and dies you have a fuel delivery issue
If it doesn't fire/start then its a Spark issue
50/50 instant results

This test has been used since the late 1800's and the first gasoline engines
Spark testers and fuel pressure mean Squat, do the 50/50 test

You have a hybrid vehicle
Which can make troubleshooting harder
2.9l B2s or Rangers with 2.9l fuel injected engines came with 2 fuel pump thru 1988, just one pump 1989 and up
So the year of the B2 swap may matter
i.e. the stalling after running a few minutes could be faulty pump, in the tank or on frame rail, its heating up and shutting down
So do the 50/50 test

I’ve bypassed both pumps and put my own in along with a fuel cell BUT the icm is missing a single screw. I know it’s hitting all 6 and getting full spark. But the starter solinoid (can’t spell lol) is sticking sometimes and since it has 0 exhaust it’s coming out near the starter and idk if it’s heating it up and causing something because it won’t crank over at all unless it’s cooled down

So not a No Start but a No Crank

So try pouring some water on starter to cool it off, and see if it cranks the engine

What year is the 2.9L and its computer?

The truck no clue because it’s a 2wd body sitting on a 83 4x4 frame with a 88 bronco 2.9 on it

Assume 1988 Computer then, most swap engine with computer and wiring harness

Does it have a Tachometer in the dash?

If possible pull out the computer and open it up
There will be a radial(barrel) capacitors on the circuit board, blue or black, these can leak and cause issues with fuel system, under $5 to replace them
They generally last 20-25 years, so....................

If you look at the label on computer you will see the part number
First 2 digits are the year
E6 = 1986
E7 = 1987
E8 = 1988
E9 = 1989
F0 = 1990
F1 = 1991
ect....
