Engine Swap Help 2002 to 2007 Ford Ranger
Hello guys I’m new to the forum , and I need some serious help right now I have a [2002 Ford Ranger Engine: V6 - 3.0L 2986cc 182ci GAS MFI vin U - 2 valve OHV Drive Type: RWD] The engine is completely blown
The good news is I found a new engine at a junkyard [2007 Ford Ranger Engine: V6 - 3.0L 2986cc 182ci GAS MFI vin U - 2 valve OHV Drive Type: RWD]
I need some answers before making the purchase. will I have compatibility issues with this engine?
Also What parts will I have to interchange between the two engines to make this work The ECU Maybe?
Thank you in advance and I apologize for my English it is my second language.

Welcome to the forum
Same engine so you will just be swapping the engines, both VIN U so same size injectors, that's the only real difference from VIN V
Only, by the way, would be sensor and injector plug ins on the 2007 engine, you need to use YOUR 2002 wiring harness, not any of the wiring that comes on the 2007
So you will disconnect all the wires and vacuum hoses on the 2002 engine, take LOTS OF PICTURES, they are FREE, then fold them back out of the way
Then pull out the old engine
Once you have BOTH engines, look at the plug-ins on the sensors and injectors, if they all match then you just need to swap it over
And they SHOULD all match
But Ford can throw a ringer in if they got a good deal on ROUND connectors in 2007 and were using SQUARE connectors in 2002, lol
Worse case is you would pull off upper and lower intake on the 2002 and put it on the 2007, that way ALL connectors match up

I swapped a 2008 motor to my 2003.
As Ron was saying, use your stuffs to install on the donor long block. Even the PCV valves are different, so wipe the donor motor clean and replace with all your stuffs.
When you do the injectors, you'll need new "fuel injector seal adapters" (Part# F77Z9G512AA) as well as new o-rings.
On the temp sensor and sender on the therm housing, you might have a temp sensor only. My 2003 had a sender AND sensor. MIght wanna look into replacing the therm housing anyway. Mine sucked twice
Oil pressure "sensor" was a different plug, too. Take it off your block and done.
While you're transferring the intake to the donor block, change the knock sensor while it's accessible.
Lucky the exhaust manifolds for me were a match. Hopefully it will for you, too.
Change the water pump and itty bitty bypass hose. Just do it
