Rev limiter in a 3.0

I want to get a ford ranger 3.0 but I want it to have a good rev limiter. My friend has a 2002 that has a nice sounding rev limiter at like 5500 ish rpm and I was wondering if the 3.0 rev limiter varies through the years? I am not talking about the park neutral one.

AFAIK, there is no rev limiter if it's a standard for the 3 litre.
The Vulcan 3 is a high revving engine, it makes its best power at above 3400 rpm, so 5500 is no problem for it.
I routinely take mine to 6000 when merging onto a highway if need be.
It's a short stroke engine, it has no problem revving that high.

Well there is a REV limiter but its only used when Automatic transmission is in Park or Neutral, if manual it can kick in after 5 seconds or so with clutch pedal down to the floor, so not while shifting unless you take a LONG TIME to shift, lol

There is a Speed Limiter, I think its just below 100MPH, like 95 maybe, but have read of 110MPH as well

A good and properly working rev limiter won't make the engine have any "Nice Sound"

My guess is your friends engine has wore out valve springs and his valves are floating, for some reason some people think that sounds cool.

Popular myth that valves "float", I tested this at home in my aquarium and every valve I tested sank right to the bottom, intake or exhaust, all sank right away

My 03 auto starts choking around 93 mph. I might be picking up another 3.0 and I'm going to have to get that flashed out

Going a 100MPH in a Ranger(or any stock pickup truck) is like skydiving with a parachute someone else packed, 99% of the time all will be fine
But that 1% will KILL YOU, not hurt you, kill you

It's not risky or dangerous, its foolish, doing 100MPH in a Corvette or Porshe is risky or dangerous

my research turned up that my 93 3.0 manual trans has a 6000rpm fuel cutoff, but you guys are saying there is no fuel cut anywhere? hmmm...

The most I ever had mine up to was 5k and it sounded really upset about it
