Shift solenoid issue
Shift solenoid issue
Hey guy’s I’ve just changed all the solenoids in the transmission pan and am still throwing the original P0760 shifsolenoid “c” code can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks EnglishNick

Many just Google a code, very very bad Idea, always look any code up on a full list, because there will be several codes the computer can choose from for the same sensor or control(solenoid), the codes computer did NOT choose can be as helpful as the one it did choose
These are a few of the basic codes for Solenoid C
P0760 Shift Solenoid C Malfunction
P0761 Shift Solenoid C Performance or Stuck Off
P0762 Shift Solenoid C Stuck On
P0763 Shift Solenoid C Electrical
P0764 Shift Solenoid C Intermittent
There are more
P0760 can be a stuck valve, the solenoids slide a rod/valve to route ATF to different clutches and brakes(bands) and computer code says its not doing that when computer activates it
Computer didn't use an electrical code like 763 or 764 so wiring is OK and solenoid is passing voltage back to computer so internally solenoid seems OK to computer
All the solenoids get 12v with key on, and since a solenoid is just a coil of wire that 12v passes thru it and to computer, so computer can "see" that the wiring is OK, when computer grounds that wire the solenoid changes the position of it valve(s) and computer would then see a change in "ratios"(gears) between input shaft and output shaft speed sensors
Computer is not seeing that change
Unless you get a specific electrical code then a solenoid is usually OK
The valve body is the control for gear selection, the solenoids are just the tools computer uses to change gears, so if there is a shifting issue its often better to change the whole valve body than to change the solenoids only
Most common issue is a gasket or seal leak in the valve body, all shifting is done using ATF fluid pressure(100psi to 175psi) at the clutches and brakes, so a leak reduces that pressure so clutch or brake can't "hold" the way it needs to
