You guys all have lifted trucks with big tires - of course it's going to be kind of slow!

i have a 3.0, 32s and 4.56s and i can get to 75-85 pretty much like nothing when i changed to an 8.8 with 4.10s (i started with a 7.5 and 3.73s) it was like night and day but now with my 4.56s i really jump the line and get up to speed on the freeway

The 3.0 is NOT as bad as you guys are making it. Mine isn't that slow unless it's right off the line. Once i'm moving it does just fine. A programmer will help a lot. However I would suggest gears too. I have 30.5in tires on mine and its a 3.0 auto with 4.10's and a programmer and its got plenty of get up and go. Ever since I got the programmer i've come to love the 3.0 i'm getting 18-19city and 23-24hwy and i'm on it ALL the time.

^^^^^^ The 3.0 ain't all bad news.

The deal with 5th gear is that it's like OD. For highway driving it just clips along fine....but when you want a good punch to pass, drop it in 4th. 5th gear is a high gear with no umpf. The 5 speed manual is more like a 4 speed w/ OD.
If you're looking for power, you need an 8cyl !!!! LOL

....and as stated before in here...if you're looking for speed and race performance, get a sports car....LOL

But if it's that bad where you can't hold a constant speed on a flat road, then you have issues with the engine or drivetrain. Climbing hills in 5th, just doesn't happen........but my Ranger can handle itself on the hwy.

ha put some 35's and more lift on it.. then tell me how ya like it.

but idk, i really dont think mines that bad.. after 3k she takes off perty good, and offroad its a nice torque monster. 4.low is where she lives.

its a truck, if you actually offroad it, you will forget about speed..it doesnt matter offroad.

I had 33's and 4.10's and it ran fine. But then again I had UD pulleys, programmer, e-fan, intake, Maf mod and exhaust to help push it along to 18 mpg.

My 3.0 is fine on the highway, everything is stock except the 31's. Although it could be the 5-speed.

My 3.0 gets up and goes pretty good .. just gotta keep reminding myself its a pick up and not a sports car every once in a while .. its auto but I'd think a stick shift would be a little quicker no ???

my truck has 4.56's with 33's and it does alright i just cant pass very well on the interstate but once i get it up to 70 or so its ok. It nothing like my mustang gt but off road vehicles are slow and thats all thats to it. Its weird going from a car i have never had to downshift to go up a hill to a truck i have to keep above 2k at pretty much all times.

i have an 03 stock 3.0l 5spd. all i did was cut off all the cats, and put one on, put a flowmaster behind that, BIG differance in power. I used to hate it, but now i love it.

My 4 cyl gets up and moves pretty good. However, compared to something like the 4.0 or mustang 4.6l, yes its slow.

3.0's in general kinda suck.. the gas mpg is horrible, the power is horrible..how gas is its not worth to own one.. only good thing about the 3.0 is they last forever.. i use to have to push the gas pedal on the highway past 3000 rpms like 3200 rpms just to stay at 65...all it did was use the gas like nothin.

now with my new truck im at like 1800 rpms at 65.. lol what a difference.

I drove a 3.0 and was unimpressed, however it really does last forever. Since I got my heavy *** rims and tires Ive noticed my truck being somewhat slower, but what you really need is what has been said. Intake, exhaust, programmer.
