There's this little inch or so size grill/speaker just above the drivers head that I can't identify through the manual or Google? Does anyone know what it's for?

First guess, it's the microphone for you bluetooth/sync system

Then its a microphone, above is from F150

It is used for a few things, one is hands free talking, and/or voice commands to your phone or system, another is for cab noise and adjusting radio level if it has that feature, i.e. it will turn up or down YOUR set volume of sound system based on cab noise, its not instant
