'00 4.0 running bad update

After another can of seafoam, replacing the PCV (was shot, real shot) and yet another garage visit, we may an answer to the rough running & poor fuel economy (11 mpg at yesterday's fill up.) They said the fuel pressure regulator is f**ked up. its running about 10 psi over normal, which could cause the rough idle & bad mileage. They won't know more until they fix that, which will cost about $385. Any thoughts?

That could explain it. Seems like an awful lot of money.

Here's a thought: Make sure the people working on your truck understand that the returnless fuel system used on '98+ Rangers operate at a higher pressure (64psi +/- 8psi) than a regular return system.
