Any Ranger 4.0l OHV from 1990-2000, in 2001 the 4.0l was switched to SOHC design, so won't bolt up.
In most cases you will just use the block and heads from new 4.0l, swap your intake to this motor so all the wiring and fuel system will be the same for your year.
I would put in a new Rear Main seal
'95 and up had CPS(cam position sensor) which you don't need so that can just be removed and use your 4.0ls oil pump shaft and plug in that hole.
