abs control location

hi all,
96 4.0 automatic 4x4

looking for the location of the abs control module, as it is not behind the radio or under the hood on the pump. possible be hind the glove box?

the only reason i believe it needs replaced is it wont communicate with the code reader to clear codes
the codes its throwing are b1318, b1317, plus wheel sensor code for right front
try to clear codes and comes back with cant communicate

thanks

Try drivers side front of engine bay, front side of inner fender

These drawings are for Mazda B-series, of similar years: https://www.autozone.com/repairguide...00c1528008d694

Not sure you can get a code if the 4WABS module is not there??

If there is no rear axle VSS(ABS sensor) then there would be oil being thrown out that hole?

Maybe someone swapped in a rear axle that didn't have this sensor

No I don't know the thread size

ron, the rear sensor is there, it was the front right that was missing. that is fixed now. i just have to get a new bolt

my understanding is it is not 4wabs with one sensor in the rear. i have the new module i just cant find the old one to replace it

On the Ranger 4WABS means 3 wheel sensors, one on each front wheel and 1 on the rear axle, same for most pickup trucks up to 2010 or so

When makers started adding "traction control" they used one sensor on each wheel, so 4 sensors

So you have 4WABS

Sorry don't know the bolt size

ill take the bolt to lowes to get a new one i just need to know where the control module is.
according to auto zone and advanced auto i have the correct new module for 2 wheel abs (only option they show), now rock auto shows a 4 wheel abs control module but the description is a wheel sensor at all four wheels and i defiantly dont have that.

ok you were right ron, it is 4wabs and the module is located on the radiator core support behind the battery.

and a new or reman one is almost impossible to find so i got a used one

for brake parts, it is 2 wheel abs (2 sensors and a vss), but for the electronics it is 4wabs

thanks for the info ron
