replaced abs speed sensor but light still on and sligh tick when spinning jacked whee
after replacing the correctly sourced (I hope) abs front drive side speed sensor, I noticed a slight ticking sound as I spun the wheel freely while still jacked up.
I thought it was a self clearencing issue, a bunch of rust was scraped off while cleaining up and prepping for reinstallation.
when I started the car and drove it back into the garage though my abs light is still lit.
is the ticking normal? its nowhere near loud enough to hear from inside the cab while driving.
should I go ahead and loosen and raise the sensor in the bore a bit?
or is there a way to reset abs system to rememdy light after fixing what the garage said code correlated to?

is there no way to clear the abs codes myself? is it usually required after replacing speed sensors?
so I pulled the sensor to make sure it didnt get shaved away due to the clearence issue.
it appears previous owner used a non standard hub and shaft assemblly or a strange abs ring at this sensor it way too long.
it completely broke off the tip.. it was stuck in the bore but somehow I got it out.
fortunately I ordered a second replacement sensor from rock auto.
this time i tried leaving it very loose but still screwed in via the allen bolt, the car cleared abs light on dash itself upon start up (terrible advice whoever told me to clear the code at napa) but after a jaunt down the street it came back on.
maybe too loose and the proper voltage was not reporting to the system?
anyways the sauga continues.

It was not terrible advice, That advice was given trusting that you knew what you were talking about and had a good sensor, you were WRONG, not the advice.
Now you tell us it was broken, of course the lights going to be on and the scanner at the auto parts store would have told you that it was a bad/broken sensor.

right but when a good sensor is replaced the light remedies itself.
I would have gone to napa and wasted the staffs time.
granted they may not mind the distraction but the knowledge passed down here should have been that if a sensor is replaced and all is well the dash fault light will remedy itself.
as mine did this second time I replaced the sensor.
