could it be battery or.......Alt.?

allright, I just installed a new water and trans temp guage, now when ever I press the breaks and turn the wheel it feels like the truck wants to stall, and some times it dose, happens randomly and also if I am crusing around at low speed and let off the accelerator it will act like it wants to stall. Plus if I press both power window buttons up or down at same time I here a whine and the rpms will drop a little, plus all the lights will dim. Any thoughts

Ypur local autoparts (retail chain like autozone) should be able to test both the battery and the alt. Just take them off the truck and up there.

sounds like an alternator to me. But get it tested like he^^^ said.

If it were the battery the truck wouldn't start at all. It sounds like an alternator problem because the alternator is responsible for juice once the truck is running and that is when your problems are occurring. Get it fixed quick or you might end up killing that battery too.

That's an alternator problem first and foremost. however you could have a bad battery as a result of the poorly working alternator.

Also if it's an `01 and still has the OE battery, you are due for new one very soon.

k, did the battery dissconnect and nothing happened the engine kept running perfectly. It really seems to only happen when I am at low speeds, or at IDLE and put it in drive or park, revers..... ect. That is the almost stall, the whine sound happens when I press the power windows at same time at IDLE.

I have a similar problem myself. We came up to Wisconsin for summer camp and when we tried to crank up the truck, it was hard to start and voltmeter kept wanting to drop at low idle, but at hi idle it was fine. We had the batt checked at walmart and replaced (OE battery) and everything worked fine. Then, the other day when we tried to go somewhere for camp, it started acting up again. After running it for about ten-fifteen minutes, it seems to do fine. I can stop and go into a store and it seems to do fine when I come out and try to restart. I'll try the battery disconnect trick and see if that tells me anything, as well as using a voltmeter.

Thanks in advance,

Chance
