cummins diesel vs. 4.0 fx4
With 33s, and my 4x4 4.0 I can beat any stock diesel. I have even beat a cummins with a EDge chip and exhaulst and intake till about 60 MPH, after that he pulled a decent clip.
Stock Diesel trucks are super slow. The reason you all are getting beat is #1 you have huge *** tires, #2 you have the older style engine.

hmmmm it doesnt sound true but that it kinda does, those a big *** trucks, ya they have alot of power but the newer engines are sooooo bogged down with all the emissions crap, im tempted to go out now and find some diesels and mess with them but than again im in virginia beach where everyone and there brother has a huge jacked up diesel with every mod known to man just cause they have nothing better to do with there money.......i want to see some videos......
A stock Powerstroke 2005 F-250 Diesel 4wd FX4 crew Cab short bed ran a 16.5 in the 1/4 mile. My old Cummins Mega Cab with the 5.9L Cummins ran a 16.8 in the 1/4-mile. All diesels are about the same place stock. A STOCK Ranger 4.0L like mine (2wd, 5-speed auto, 3.55 gears) runs 16sec. flat in the 1/4 mile.
So by this statement, I would believe a STOCK Ranger vs. a STOCK diesel as beating it. But a stock Ranger with larger tires vs. a modded diesel, I doubt it. My buddy's 05 like I said with 8" lift and 36's KILLS my Supercharged Ranger. The Cummins too are no slouch. Here is my time slip of my Cummins when all it had was a chip, and keep in mind this was a MEGACAB!
Cummins:
R/T ..... .630
60' ..... 2.173
330 ..... 6.347
1/8 ..... 9.671
MPH ..... 74.20
1000 ..... 12.531
1/4 ..... 14.927
MPH ..... 93.31
And now a Supercharged Ranger (this is why a stock Ranger will NOT beat a modded diesel IMHO:
R/T ..... .618
60' ..... 2.150
330 ..... 6.330
1/8 ..... 9.671
MPH ..... 73.86
1000 ..... 12.544
1/4 ..... 14.944
MPH ..... 93.28
Now if you look at both time slips, the 1/8th mile is identical and by the 1000ft is where my Cummins would pass my Ranger right up. Granted not by much, but it would have beat my Ranger in that race.

your stock 4.0L ran a 16 flat? Damn, the elevation really may make a difference. I ran a freakin 18.37 out at bandimere this summer, buddy of mine ran a couple trucks ahead of he in his 05 Cummins ran a 16.3. He has stacks in his bed, only mod he's done.
I'm still calling BS simply because while 3/4 ton and 1 ton diesels may be heavy, they have the torque and power to make up for that. If you were running against a 1980 International 7400 I can see it, but a new diesel pickup, aint a chance in hell that you could beat it unless you had substantial power modifications done.

not to burst your bubble man buttttt 16 is reasonable... especially for a stock 4.0, hell the newer ones are runnin mid 15s i thought
Wayne was running mid 16s if i remember correctly in a 3.0 auto

ya calling bs on this one.have a duramax that has custom tuning on it.and also had a 02 ranger with a 4.0 in it.mother in law has it now.and there is no way in heel that thing would catch me.thats not a bad thing.but there is no replacement for displacement.diesel's have turned from a sluggish junker to a hot rod in the last 7 yrs.but then again mine isn't stock.but the ranger has intake and exhaust to.and as for the chips throw them all away.and get efi live.if it's a dmax.
What you guys arn't getting is you have the older 4.0 engine. There is a big diffrence.
A "STOCK" Diesel is NOT fast
Exhaulst and Chip a Diesel comes alive. But it still isn't fast. I raced a 03 cummins with chip and exhaulst and we where side x side till about 60MPH. Now if he did a 4wd start with boost he would leap ahead pretty fast.

There is no way a Ranger could beat a stock diesel. GUYS... F.Y.I our trucks are not fast. My step dad has a built diesel and we race it against our 2000 Trans-Am and it keeps up.
Anyone who thinks they can beat a diesel let alone a built one is on f***ing crack.

Right next to the duramax (speed wise).
