Engine Randomly Dies but no Check Engine light
I have a 99 Ranger 4.0 with 190k on it. I've been having issues with the engine dying on me. The first time it died was slowing down for a stop sign. I stoped it, turned the key of and put it back into park. As soon as I turned the key off, I imediatly turned it back on and it fired right off. It then died during idle after I went to start it after class. Same thing with the key, turned it off then turned it on and it fired right off again. Then it promptly died before I put it in drive. It did this 2 more time. As I pulled away it died after I got up to about 25mph. It started up right away again. It ran fine until I slowed down to get off the Highway and died again. It started right away again and got me home yesterday and to class fine today. The check engine light never came on during all of this so it didn't spit any codes. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Thanks.
Thanks.
First, verify the CEL works. Turn key forward without starting it and make sure it illuminates. Second, if it is not burned out and working`, you could still have some pending codes that could shed some light on the problem. Without any more info, my first guesses would be low fuel pressure or a vacuum leak. You will need to do some diagnostics.
