Exhaust Question

I know ya'll are gonna say search, I did. What I am looking for is a Loud, Deep sounding muffler with ok to best proformance. What would that be. If I get a new muffler it will probably be si/do. I don't want to sound crummy or quiet. Thanks for the help! Sound clips are welcome!

-Mike

Which is the best of bothe worlds? I want to stay with loud an get deeper than my glasspacks. I want loud more than performance, but don't want to lose any proformance.

The flowmaster 40 series is loud, drones a bit on the highway. My main complaint with mine is popping/crackling with down shifting or compression braking, which you shouldn't get with an auto.

Ide say Borla or Magnaflow, there both relatively pricey, but you get what you pay for, you can buy a magnaflow kit for $530 shipped, Borla would be around the same...Flowmaster is a bit cheaper and sounds good too....Really its al in how much you want to spend on a system is what it comes down too, i dont think with any of them youde lose any performance, as long as you have back pressure you wouldnt lose any

I have magnaflow myself and i love it, like i said it was big bucks but its stainless steel so itll last longer then my truck ever will. Not real loud but DEFINATELY not quiet, quality sounding...

i personally hate the sound of flowmasters on v6 trucks, or any loud muffler on a v6... it gets to high pitch for me.. i would look into a magnaflow, or bassani...

unless u got serious hp (supercharger or turbo), youll lose power and over time do serious damage to your motor, not to mention a V6 straight pipe would make anyone suisidal because it sounds like ***...

Its simple, no back pressure = alot less hp, ****ty mpg, motor damage, i think most everyone here will agree with me on this one, weather it be a cherry bomb or w/e you have to have some kind of back pressure.

I was thinking about running stratight pipes for a few days, between the time I take my old exhaust off and when I get my new exhaust installed, just for the heck for a different sound for a few days and then I'll enjoy my exhaust alot more!

I have a straight pipe on my truck and it's OK. Alittle loud at start up and at low speed town-crusing. Sounds great at WOT and at hyway speeds.

As far as loss of low-end power, how can you tell, I am not a human dyno. Damage to engine...are you kidding me? MPG? It's hard to tell, winter sucks gas anyway, but I think it might have went down some.

Overall not too bad. I may have to install a muffler though....the wife says it's too loud and it wakes her up in the moring when I go to work. And you know what they say.....if Momma aint happy, no one is happy! LOL. Seriously, I might be getting a Borla muffler soon.

For what you are asking i would go with a Borla muffler - Get the (center/center) muffler, you wont be dissapointed.

I bought the JBA evol catback, it comes with a Magnaflow muffler and has a nice looking exhaust tip that is welded on. It is probably the deepest sounding muffler I have heard on a Ranger, however it is pretty wimpy when you compare it to a V8.
