HELP!!!! No crank no start, nospark, no fuel, no comms

I have a 99 Ranger and the other day I went to drive to the store and turned the key and nothing. No click, no fuel pump humming, nothing. I'm assuming it is the PATS system .... I don't know what else would shut down all those systems. I've tried all the reset procedures online and nothing. I need to get my truck back on the road. Any suggestions?

Just as an add on .... I had to break into my truck the other night since I locked my keys inside like a dumb*%s and I just noticed this morning that the lock is sitting higher than it usually does. Would minor damage to a manual lock cause the PATS system to shut everything down?

Welcome to the forum

1999 PATS(passive anti-theft system) was only on the V6 Rangers, 3.0l or 4.0l engines, not on the 2.5l 4cyl Rangers

Assuming you have a V6 Ranger then on the dash will be a THEFT Light
It will come on with Key on
It will then go OFF if the key in the ignition PASSES the test
If THEFT light starts to flash rapidly then the key did not pass the test and PATS will prevent start up
If you leave the key on with light flashing, then after about 45seconds it will start to flash a 2 digit code, a 1 and then a 1 to 6 flash, longer pause then it repeats 5 or 6 times
That 2 digit code, 11 to 16, will tell you why PATS was activated

PATS is not an "alarm" so has no connection to doors and locks, it only "looks" at the key in the ignition and only at startup
There is no "reset" procedure for PATS, the key in the ignition either passes the test or it doesn't

You can get your 1999 owners manual here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/genera...1-models-3747/
It will show location of THEFT light on the dash in case bulb is burned out or you never noticed it
Fuses 19 and 25 in cab fuse box are used for PATS, and other systems

PATS disables starter relay, fuel pump and fuel injectors when activated, not spark, not that it matters, lol

Low battery power and poor battery connection does the same
Battery and cables need to provide starter motor 60amps when key is turned to START, if there are only 10amps then nothing, no crank no pump no nothing
Turn on the head lights make sure they are bright

There is also a Safety switch that prevents starter motor activation if automatic is not all the way in Park(try neutral) or clutch pedal is not all the way down(manual)

Hey what's up guys. I'm having a weird issue. I got a 99 ranger 3.0 v6 auto 4x4, and I'm having a weird issue with a no crank, no start. Sometimes it wouldn't start unless i put it in neutral. Sometimes it wouldn't even start in neutral! So i figured it was the NSS. Replaced that and still nothing. I got it to start once after replacing the NSS. Also, I'll know when it's gonna start because the THEFT light would come on while I moved the shifter back & forth between PARK and NEUTRAL, which is weird? So thats what led me to think that the NSS was bad, that's why I replaced it. The problem now is, the THEFT light isn't flashing its usual 3 second intervals at all, nor is it flashing rapidly either, the check engine light doesn't illuminate when i turn the key on, and I'm not hearing my fuel pump come on. I've checked every fuse in both fuse boxes, and ive even swapped some relays to see if the problem went away, nothing. What could be the issue?? I'm lost lol i need help guys! Any help/info is greatly appreciated!
