How can you tell if you have a Explorer 4.0 SOHC?
Hello,
When I bought my 2001 Ranger Edge, the seller told me that the truck had a Explorer engine put in it at around 30,000 miles because the crankshaft gear just snapped off. This was back in 2003 and the truck was still under the factory warranty so the dealership just put a new Explorer engine in there. (That's what I was told anyway)
How can I be sure there is a Explorer 4.0 SOHC in there? I can't tell by the throttle cover because it has the Ranger throttle cover but I thought maybe there might be some serial numbers on the valve covers or some different serial numbers on the block.
Thanks in advance,
Brian

Well, the only thing I know is that it has about 5 more HP, other than that, I don't know.
I mainly need to know if I have a Elplorer engine so I don't get the right PCM and wiring harness.
