vapor lock

I have a 2001 4.0L. On hot days when I shut the engine off and try and start it, it will not start. Let it set for a couple hours it starts then runs fine. Engine temp appears normal. any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum

1998 and up Rangers use 55psi fuel pressure so can't vapor lock, technically no fuel injection system can

Vapor lock was seen on older systems with fuel pumps at the engine so the fuel line back to the tank was at 0psi so gasoline could "boil" if fuel line got hot enough
If you add even 5psi pressure "boiling point" goes up too high for vapor lock

Do the 50/50 test next time its hot and you have a No Start
Spray gasoline or Quick Start(ether) into the intake and try to start engine
If engine starts and dies then you have no fuel getting into engine
If engine doesn't start then no Spark
50/50
