Where Can I buy a brand new 4.0 SOHC

Like the title says, where could I buy one? And if I did the swap from 3.0 to 4.0 what other parts would I need?

i think D.'s truck was a 4.0 to begin with....i think he just modified his 4.0.......

for a BRAND new 4.0 SOHC, the dealership is your best bet......for a REMANUFACTURED one, the get ahold of Jasper Engines...

..his truck IS an Edge with a modified 4.0L SOHC, but he has a new project, an XLT with a 3.0L/auto that is getting replaced with his current setup- in other words, sounds like he's finally ditching the tbars for the XLT coil spring setup

If you have the money for brand spanking new, look at supersix motorsports. They're building them with forged internals, ported heads, etc. It's not cheap though.

A 4.0L SOHC uses a beefed up transmission to handle the added torque (both manual and automatic). Besides, the 4.0L engine-to-trans bolt pattern is different from the 3.0L. So, at a minimum, you would need an engine, transmission, engine/trans wiring harness and PCM.

Actually, that's what I originally wanted to do and what I SHOULD have done. I do believe that it is the best approach and have said so many times. However, I searched for a donor for a long time but couldn't seem to find the right deal. So, instead of following my own advice, I am piecing it together from new and used parts. It can be time consuming, difficult and expensive to get everything you need this way.

fuze bought my engine/transmission/transfer case and all the associated hardware from me for $2k. It took him a few weeks to get it up and running, and he's a pretty good fella when it comes to cars (especially wiring). If you're gonna go for it, great! I wish I could be around to help ya.

thanks for all the info guys

I got a few pms from members who wanted to sell there 4.0's to me but in all honesty I dont have the money for it just quite yet. I'm thinking ahead for the future. I would love a V8 but I know it would be alot more frustration than a 4.0 swap.

At the end of this summer I will have enough $ for either an engine swap or coil over suspension. I can't make up my mind!! And I probably wont make up my mind until the last possible second. hah

I say keep the truck like it is and take the money and buy something to have fun in that goes fast. It's ashame seeing something that starts and runs everyday become one headache after another that keeps hitting the wallet once a week to keep it on the road. I made that mistake with my Nissan. And when it was all said and done it was still a 4 cylinder 240SX.
